A roll-off dumpster handles the vast majority of what a cleanout or renovation produces. But a short list of materials is regulated or hazardous and has to be disposed of through other channels. Knowing the difference before you load saves you overage charges and a rejected pickup.
Generally accepted
- Household junk, furniture and mattresses
- Renovation and remodeling debris — drywall, lumber, flooring, fixtures
- Roofing tear-off, siding and decking
- Yard waste — branches, brush, sod and soil (watch the weight)
- Concrete, brick and masonry as clean hard fill (in the right container)
Keep these out
These items are prohibited because they are hazardous, regulated, or handled through dedicated recycling and disposal programs:
- Hazardous waste, chemicals, solvents and wet paint
- Oil, fuels and propane tanks
- Tires, batteries and motor oil
- Appliances containing refrigerants, such as fridges and AC units
- Electronics and televisions
- Asbestos and other regulated materials
Not sure about something?
If an item is not on either list, just ask. It is far easier to check before it goes in than to sort it out at pickup. Call (380) 262-9482 and we will tell you whether it is fine, and point you to the right option if it is not.
